ABOUT ME

Inevitably we have lost some of our Mountain Gorillas to accidents, disease and old age. Tragically several more have been murdered by humans. It's hard to imagine what desperation or darkness motivates people to kill a creature of the size and beauty of a Mountain Gorilla. Our best guess is that they are killed in order to intimidate the Rangers; to discourage them from taking action against gangs involved in poaching or charcoal production. The Rangers have buried the dead gorillas in the Gorilla Cemetery at Rumangabo, and we have memorialised them here on this page.
